Manchester United keen on Everton youngster Jarrad Branthwaite
According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United are interested in promising Everton youngster Jarrad Branthwaite.
The teenager came through the ranks at Carlisle United before signing for Everton in January 2020. His deal at Goodison Park will run until the end of the 2021/22 campaign.
Branthwaite initially linked up with the Toffees Under-23 side before leaving for Blackburn Rovers on loan this January. He has since played seven times for the Championship side, lasting 90 minutes in all of them.
Still, just 18, this opportunity to play regularly will help speed up the youngster’s progress. Branthwaite has so far looked assured for Blackburn despite them suffering four straight losses in the league.
His performances have certainly caught the attention of United, who are on the lookout for defensive reinforcements. Branthwaite is still too young and inexperienced to be regarded as the solution to our problems. However, he is a solid addition for the future.
The Red Devils have brought in some of the top young talents from across the land in recent transfer windows. One of them, Amad Diallo even made his debut for the club earlier this week against Real Sociedad.
A coveted set of skills!
At 6’5″, Branthwaite is a giant of a player who also has the pace to burn. More so, he happens to be a left-footed centre-back which makes him a hot commodity. This has also seen the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City keep tabs on his progress. (h/t Daily Mail)
Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti has a high opinion of the player and it will be surprising if Everton does not put up a fight to keep him. With Toffees defender Yerry Mina facing an uncertain future, Branthwaite could prove to be a ready-made replacement for the Colombian.
