Manchester United will be facing stiff competition from Real Madrid as both teams are in pursuit of a PL defender
Manchester United will not have an easy time signing Jarrad Branthwaite as La Liga giants Real Madrid have entered the fray. As reported by The Sun, the Spanish side is keen on acquiring the 21-year-old.
Branthwaite has made 31 appearances for Everton this season. He has played a big part in the Toffees being out of the relegation zone despite all the points they’ve had taken from them.
Standing tall at 1.95m, the English defender is an aerial threat along with being an excellent defender. He was hounding the Red Devils’ attacking line during their last meeting and won five out of six duels.
People talk a lot about Branthwaite’s excellent defence. However, also worth mentioning is his fitness. At 21 he has played almost 90 minutes in all of his 31 appearances. The young star has built himself well to handle the physicality and match load of top-flight football.
Branthwaite will also only get better from here. Being at a time like Manchester United or Real Madrid will do wonders for the player. He’ll get to learn and compete against the best players in the world.
However, Sean Dyche and Everton aren’t too keen on letting the 21-year-old go. Branthwaite also has three years left on his contract so signing him will be expensive. Moreover, the Red Devils will have to compete with Real Madrid for his signature.
