Will Tottenham be forced to part with Manchester United target Harry Kane?
Manchester United have been linked with Tottenham Hotspur ace Harry Kane for some time now. The Red Devils are in need of an infallible scorer and there are few better at that job than the English skipper.
Kane admitted last season that he would consider leaving Spurs if his career objectives aren’t met. While Tottenham have made it to the Carabao Cup final, it remains to be seen if they can go all the way.
It would appear that off the field issues could also have a say in where the player could potentially end up next season.
According to Football Insider, the coronavirus pandemic has had an adverse effect on Spurs’ finances and it could get worse.
The North Londoners have reported a £63.9m loss in their latest financial statements, the first time they have seen red since 2012. Chairman Daniel Levy had predicted last November that Spurs will lose an “irrecoverable” £150million this season if the stadium remains shut to the fans.
As things stand it does not appear as if fans will be permitted back anytime soon. According to the report, a Spurs insider has claimed that the club may be forced to make one big-money sale in the summer.
A significant decision!
This potential sale is irrespective of whether Spurs qualify for next season’s Champions League. A prospect that is looking difficult with each passing day. It would be fair to assume that missing out on the lucrative competition will be a blow for Tottenham.
While Kane is not the only sellable asset, he is by far the most lucrative. Whether he will be put on the market remains to be seen.
