Solskjaer confirms Victor Lindelof is a doubt for Wolves clash due to injury
Speaking to BT Sport (h/t Manchester Evening News) after the 2-2 draw vs Leicester, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed that Victor Lindelof was substituted during the game due to an injury, which makes him a doubt to face Wolves.
Manchester United travelled to the King Power Stadium this weekend to match a record 11 away league wins. The Red Devils looked like winning the game when Bruno Fernandes scored to make it 2-1.
Unfortunately, that was not to happen, as Axel Tuanzebe helplessly deflected a close-range shot by Jamie Vardy into his own net. The 85th-minute goal from Vardy meant the two sides shared a point on the day.
In addition to the disappointing result, fans were also left to worry about the condition of Victor Lindelof. The Swedish defender started at right-back to replace the injured Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
The 26-year-old found it difficult to deal with the pace of Harvey Barnes, and was taken off just after half-time. Solskjaer confirmed after full-time that the substitution was due to a back injury.
“Yeah, he’s struggling with his back. He’s struggled for a little while. We might have to do something.”
The Norwegian is referring to a back injury which Lindelof has been nursing for a while now. He first encountered it over a year ago and recently revealed that he had been playing through the pain barrier.
A doubt for Wolves
Speaking to MUTV (h/t Manchester Evening News) later on, Solskjaer mentioned that the former SL Benfica man will be a doubt for their clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers this week.
“His back again I think, so we’ll just have to assess that one before Wolves. We might have to look at that one again.”
