Former star feels Sir Alex Ferguson would have demolished Man United ace for error vs Leicester

Owen Hargreaves thinks Sir Alex Ferguson would have been livid with Bruno Fernandes after Leicester draw

Speaking to Premier League Productions (h/t Metro), former Manchester United player Owen Hargreaves said that Sir Alex Ferguson would not have let Bruno Fernandes get away with his error in the 2-2 draw.

Manchester United were looking to equal a record for most consecutive away wins as they faced Leicester City. The match saw Marcus Rashford score early on after a deft touch from in-form Bruno Fernandes set him free.

The game was back on level terms as Fernandes carelessly gave the ball away 8 minutes later for an equalizer. The Portuguese made amends by scoring in the 79th minute after being played in by Edinson Cavani.

However, an own goal by Axel Tuanzebe in the 85th minute saw United share the points with the Foxes. Despite making an assist and scoring one himself, Owen Hargreaves was quick to point out Fernandes’ mistake.

“Fernandes, sometimes as good as you are, don’t play with risk in your own half.”

The Portuguese ace gave away the ball needlessly after attempting a nutmeg in his own half, and the pundit thinks that Sir Alex Ferguson would have been livid with the former Sporting CP midfielder.

“He’s fortunate Ole is a nice manager because I can only imagine what Sir Alex would have said to one of us if we tried to nutmeg someone in our own half.”

An opportunity wasted

It was an important time in the game where a goal for the Foxes gave them the momentum going ahead. The 31st-minute equaliser set the tone for a nervy finale and United could not come away with the win.

Luckily for the Red Devils, teams around them dropped points as well during the weekend. Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur all failed to grab 3 points in their respective games.
