Manchester United to be without Scott McTominay and Aaron Wan-Bissaka against Everton
Speaking on the official Manchester United website (h/t Mirror), manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed that Scott McTominay and Aaron Wan-Bissaka will miss the clash against Everton.
The Red Devils go head-to-head with Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton in the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.
If United can secure a win against Everton, this will be their 4th cup semi-final under the Solskjaer. The club lost all 3 cup semi-finals they reached last season.
However, the Norwegian will be without two key players in Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Scott McTominay for the encounter.
The United boss has revealed that the duo will be ruled out due to injury and hopes that they would not be sidelined for too long.
“Those two will miss the game against Everton definitely. Hopefully, it won’t be too long.”
McTominay scored the quickest Premier League brace in history against Leeds United in the club’s 6-2 win at the weekend.
The Scottish midfielder put the team 2-0 up within three minutes of the game, and later assisted Daniel James’ goal. However, he was forced off the field in added time due to a groin injury.
Since United had already made all their 3 substitutions, they saw the game out with 10 men. But Solskjaer hopes that his injury is not too serious despite not being certain on a date for the Scotsman’s return.
“He’s not had any muscle injuries before so we don’t know how quickly he’s going to recover.”

United will also miss Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who has been one of the first names on the teamsheet this season. The former Crystal Palace man has made 19 appearances for the Red Devils since the start of this campaign.
Thankfully, the team is not devoid of quality players in the duo’s absence. It can be a good chance for players like Donny van de Beek and Brandon Williams to get a run out.
