Newcastle express interest in signing Manchester United outcast Marcos Rojo
A report by The Athletic (h/t Mirror) states that Premier League club Newcastle United are interested in signing Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo, with Sheffield United also in the mix.
The report mentions that the Magpies would want a loan deal for the player in the January transfer window.
The Argentine defender has failed to pin down a starting place at the club ever since he moved to the club in the summer of 2014.
The former Sporting CP player has just made 15 appearances for the club since the start of the 2018/19 season.
The 30-year-old’s time at Old Trafford has been blighted by injuries. Despite that, he has fallen way down the pecking order at the club.
He has failed to make a single appearance for the senior side during this season. Moreover, he has not even made the matchday squad during that time.
His only appearance for Manchester United this season has been the Premier League 2 game against Everton U-23. (h/t Transfermakrt)
It seems like he is no longer in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans and a move away from the club could very well be a good solution for all parties.
Rojo is in the last few months of his contract with the club. This leaves him free to discuss terms with other clubs in January over a free transfer in the summer.

Sheffield United are another Premier League side who have been linked with a loan move for the player.
