Bruno Fernandes tempted to urge Fred to replicate Michael Carrick

According to The Daily Mail, Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes is tempted to ask Fred to replicate Michael Carrick.

A former player, Carrick served the club with distinction for 12 years. During his time, he made 464 appearances, scoring 23 goals and assisting a further 36. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Now 39, the former English international is on United’s coaching staff. He has not lost his touch and has had a profound impact on Fernandes.

So much so that Fernandes feels he can still teach the younger generation things if his performances on the Carrington practice pitches are anything to go by.

“I watched Carrick playing in training and he didn’t miss a pass. It is unbelievable how fresh and sharp he is doing the exercises with us.”

Fernandes is tempted to ask Fred to do the same. However, he does realise that the Brazilian will find it hard to replicate Carrick.

“I was talking with Fred and I was going to say to him, “Hey, watch him playing and do the same.”

Carrick’s performances are apparently good enough to confuse onlookers given his ageless performances.

Known for his passing ability, Carrick was a key cog in the United side under Sir Alex Ferguson. A proven winner, Fernandes too has been taking advice from him as he attempts to improve himself.

“I’m learning a lot from him and he’s one of the people I like to listen to, because he was a big player, he won a lot of trophies for the club and for me you have to learn from these players. “

The prospect of having a player with Carrick’s attributes in the current squad would be welcome. However, Fred is not a player with similar abilities.

Hopefully, Carrick’s sessions will rub off on some of the young talents at the club who can take on his mantle in the future.
