Marcus Rashford admits Manchester Untied players are motivated to close the gap on Liverpool
According to the PA News Agency (h/t Mirror), Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has fired a warning to arch-rivals Liverpool ahead of the 2020/21 season.
The United striker has revealed that he and his teammates are keen to close the gap to the Merseysiders in the upcoming season.
The Red Devils finished a mammoth 33 points behind Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp’s side ensured they put us in their wake as they won their first Premier League title.
“I think that’s natural for anyone who plays for the club or anyone who’s from Manchester.”
While United enjoyed an excellent second half of the season, we were largely inconsistent in the first half. Although we finished third, we ended up drawing 12 games, while losing another eight.
To add insult to injury the team closest to Liverpool was none other than our noisy neighbours Manchester City.
Rashford is keen to set the record straight and show our biggest rivals that we are once again a force to be reckoned with.
The United ace has however urged the need to focus on our own performances rather than that of our rivals.
“You can find yourself sometimes looking too much elsewhere, but we play our best and we improve most when we concentrate on ourselves as individuals and as a team.”
United have not won the Premier League since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club after the 2012/13 season. The best we have managed is a second-place finish under Jose Mourinho in 2018.

Rashford believes the Red Devils are once again capable of challenging at the top. United will have no problems doing so if they can replicate the form they showed since January.
However, the truth remains that Liverpool are at this point in time, a better team than us. United need to strengthen in the summer window to add much-needed depth.
United have so far signed just Donny van de Beek. Solskjaer has shown he has the ability to beat the best last season. He will however need to be backed in the window to ensure he has the tools to do so.
