Victor Lindelof prevents robbery of an elderly woman’s purse
According to Swedish publication Aftonbladet (h/t Daily Mail), Manchester United star Victor Lindelof has come to the aid of an elderly woman back home in Sweden.
The 26-year-old is enjoying a well-earned rest before the 2020/21 campaign kicks off.
The Swede was alert and helped chase down a thief who snatched a 90-year-old woman’s purse. According to the report, he chased down the perpetrator, tracked him down and held him against the ground.
By the time the police arrived, the United defender had already diffused the situation. Although the police report did not mention Lindelof by name, the account of events was corroborated by eyewitness and hinted on by a police officer.
The player’s wife Maja was also an eyewitness to the incident. The incident took place at 10:40 and lasted until 10:45 when the police arrived. Lindelof held down the culprit for close to five minutes.
The Swede is set to return to United ahead of the 2020/21 season. Although he was the prefered partner of Harry Maguire, his inconsistency had been a source of frustration for fans.
He is however capable of holding his own and showed his fury at teammate Bruno Fernandes who had a pop at him for Sevilla’s winner.
We have to applaud Lindelof fulfilling his social responsibility and also turning up for an elderly citizen in need.

At the very least, there seems to be no lack of motivation from Lindelof going into the new season. With no new signings so far and captain Harry Maguire embroiled in an unnecessary series of incidents, the onus will be on our senior players to step up.
Let’s hope Lindelof brings the fighting spirit to the pitch.
