Juventus want £36m for Manchester United target Douglas Costa
According to Italian publication Corriere dello Sport (h/t The Sun), Manchester United have made a £27m bid for Douglas Costa but Juventus remain firm on their £36m valuation of the Brazilian winger.
The 29-year-old has been with Juve since 2017, having arrived from Bayern Munich, initially on loan, before completing a £36m move in 2018. However, injuries have plagued him during his time in Turin, as a result of which he hasn’t been a regular in the side.
Costa ended the 2019/20 campaign with three goals and seven assists from 29 appearances in all competitions, although he started just 7 Serie A matches.
It is reported that the Brazilian international is one of the players who will be axed by new manager Andrea Pirlo. And Manchester United have identified him as a cheaper alternative for primary attacking target Jadon Sancho. (h/t The Sun)
To that end, United have made a £27m bid for the veteran Brazilian star. Juventus, though, remain intent on recouping the £36m they paid for him a couple of years ago. (h/t The Sun)
It goes without saying that we need a new winger in our midst heading into the new season. And Costa has proven himself at the biggest stage for a number of years. However, the Brazilian has been struggling with fitness issues over the past couple of seasons, which should be a concern.
