Jadon Sancho will not hand in a transfer request to force Manchester United switch
According to German publication Bild (h/t Mirror), Jadon Sancho has opted against handing in a transfer request to force a move to Manchester United.
Discussions between Borussia Dortmund and United have come to a standstill following the German side’s refusal to budge on their asking price.
The 20-year-old is keen on moving to Old Trafford. This prompted speculation that the youngster would submit a transfer request to force Dortmund’s hand.
According to the report, Sancho has chosen against taking that route. He is instead keen to show his commitment to Dortmund and also respect their decision to keep him.
United were given until August 10 to complete a deal for Sancho. With the date passing without any joy, the winger joined up with his teammates for their pre-season training camp in Switzerland.
He played 45 minutes as Dortmund won 6-0 in their first friendly against Austrian side Rheindorf Altach. Jude Bellingham and Erling Braut Haaland also performed well in that match.
With the start of the season fast approaching, United will have to step up their pursuit of Sancho. Backing off until next summer opens up the possibility of other clubs joining the fray.
This will be another blow to United, who look set to have free run at the player this summer. The ball is now in United’s court, with Ed Woodward having a decision to make.
