Manchester United given hope in Jadon Sancho pursuit
Speaking to German broadcaster ZDF (h/t ESPN), Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has given Manchester United fresh hope in their hopes of signing Jadon Sancho.
The young Englishman was linked with a move to Old Trafford throughout the summer. However, it was not to be and the young winger stayed put at Dortmund.
The major sticking points was the German side’s reluctance to lower their £108million asking price. The belief was that Dortmund would eventually give in. That assumption, however, turned out to be wrong.
Speaking on the issue, Watzke admitted that it is possible United misjudged that Dortmund would eventually cave in. As history showed, the Germans held firm, much to our annoyance.
“Perhaps a club that wanted him misjudged it and believed we were ready to compromise.”
Watzke went on to add that no player is unsellable. It would appear that everyone has a price and so does Sancho. The German’s comments would indicate that the player could be obtained when the market opens next summer.
“We had a clear line, and we will have it next summer.”
Going by Watzke’s comments, United can land Sancho provided they can meet Dortmund’s demands. At this point in time, what the German giants for their young winger is no secret. Whether United will meet that valuation remains to be seen.
