Victor Lindelof suffers back injury against Bournemouth
Speaking to BT Sport (h/t ManUtd.com), Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solksjaer has provided an injury update on defender Victor Lindelof.
Manchester United took their unbeaten run across all competitions to 16 games, beating Bournemouth 5-2. A double from Mason Greenwood, coupled with goals from Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Bruno Fernandes sealed the win.
Lindelof had started the game against Bournemouth but was taken off at half-time, with Eric Bailly replacing him. And the manager has now confirmed that the substitution was due to a back injury to the Swede. (h/t ManUtd.com)
“He [Lindelof] struggled today with his back so, hopefully, he won’t be too bad.”
While on the pitch, the Swede hadn’t impressed a great deal on the day. He could have done better for the Cherries’ opening goal from Junior Stanislas.
However, his replacement didn’t fare much better either as Bailly gave away a penalty just minutes after he came on to the field. Harry Maguire, too, was disappointing on the day. Nevertheless, it was another positive day for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer & co.
The injury to Lindelof does put a tiny blemish on the victory. Hopefully, the injury isn’t too severe and he is able to come back quickly as we enter the business end of the campaign.
