Twitter reacts to Manchester United’s international matchup on Twitter

Manchester United have had a number of football’s biggest names represent us over the last few decades.

Quite a few of them have come from European powerhouses such as the Netherlands and France. The club’s official Twitter account sought to settle the battle as to who would prevail if the Reds from both nations went against each other.

The matchup was a five-a-side game involving some of the biggest names to don the red shirt.

The Dutch have the better goalkeeper in Edwin van der Saar in comparison to the error-prone Fabian Barthez.

Laurent Blanc and Patrice Evra are excellent defenders, but Jaap Stam was a beast who would take some tackling. Once again, we will have to give the dutch colossus the edge here.

The midfield battle will go to the French, who have the likes of Paul Pogba and Eric Cantona against the likes of Arnold Muhren and Daley Blind. although Muhren is a celebrated Dutch star, the Pogba-Cantona duo would edge the competition.

Manchester United have had a strong Dutch contingent

The attack was the easiest to call given the gross mismatch involved. Anthony Martial is an excellent player, but he does not hold a candle to Ruud van Nistelrooy and Robin van Persie.

The Dutch duo are two of the celebrated strikers of their era and present a credible threat to the French side.

We believe the Dutch side is better equipped to win due to their prowess in attack and the defence. And it appears a majority of the fans on Twitter agree with us.

We take a look at some of the responses below.
