Phil Jones could miss Tottenham Hotspur clash with injury
According to Metro, Manchester United star Phil Jones could miss out on the crunch clash against Tottenham Hotspur on June 19 after picking up an injury.
The 28-year-old is one of United’s longest-serving first-team players in the squad. He has only played a peripheral role this season by making just 8 appearances for the club. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Jones is in his 9th year at United. Injuries have dwarfed what could have been an excellent career at Old Trafford. Having joined the club as one of the best young defenders in the game, he has made 224 appearances for United.
The Englishman has attracted interest from the likes of Bournemouth, Newcastle United and Everton. It will not be a surprise to see him depart in the upcoming transfer window. (h/t Metro)
United organized an intra-squad friendly at Carrington after the friendly against Stoke City was cancelled. Jones missed out due to the injury.
Thankfully, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can call upon the likes of Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba against Tottenham. The duo is two of United’s most skilled players and their return is greatly anticipated.

With an otherwise fully fit squad to choose from, it is difficult to see Solskjaer pick Jones in the starting XI.
He would have been a substitute at best in what is a crunch game in the top-four clash. Jones’ career is a massive ‘what if’. It remains to be seen if he will stay at the club next season.
