Manchester United fans ecstatic after Edinson Cavani leads comeback victory against Southampton

Clearly Manchester United got themselves a bargain when they signed Edinson Cavani on a free on deadline day last summer.

The Uruguayan veteran maybe 33, but he showed that age is just a number after effecting around an incredible turnaround against Southampton at St. Mary’s.

An abject United side themselves down 2-0 going into the break. Things were not looking up as David de Gea was forced to come off with an injury.

While Dean Henderson did his part in goal, it was Cavani on the other end who lit up the match.

The 33-year-old set up Bruno Fernandes to halve the deficit before drawing us level in the 74th minute. He was, however, not done and had his eyes on all three points.

Cavani got his just rewards when he slotted hom United’s third in stoppage time to complete the comeback.

It was an incredible display by the substitute who could play a key role in the season to come. Watching on from the sidelines, Ole Gunnar Solskajer, himself once a game-changing substitute could not have been any prouder.
