Ighalo, since arriving at the club in January, has proven to be an able backup option. The Nigerian centre-forward has scored four goals and created one in eight matches for United.

Having spent plenty of time with the squad, the 30-year-old believes that the 18-year-old Greenwood will keep getting better from here on.

Greenwood has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in 2019/20 and has quickly established himself as a key member of the squad.

In his first full season with the first-team, the 18-year-old has bagged 12 goals and 4 assists in 36 senior appearances. The Manchester United academy graduate has made some vital contributions this season.

“He’s very young and exciting. He is a player for the future for Man United. He’s doing well now but in two or three years he is going to be doing very, very well.”

Indeed, given how impressive Greenwood has been this season, there is no denying that he’ll only keep getting better with experience.

The 18-year-old has a fine role model to emulate in Marcus Rashford. Another academy graduate, he too burst onto the scenes as an 18-year-old and is now one of the most exciting young attackers in Europe.

Hopefully, Greenwood continues on a similar path and goes on to realize his immense potential in the coming years.
