Scott McTominay opens up on staying put at Manchester United

According to the Manchester United Podcast (h/t Daily Mail), Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay believes he made the right decision to stay and fight for a spot rather than go out on loan.

Having come through the academy, he made his mark under the tutelage of Jose Mourinho. He looked to be on his way to Scottish giants Celtic on loan, only for the deal to get nowhere.

However, it proved to be an inspired decision. He took full advantage of Paul Pogba and Fred’s struggles to cement his place in midfield.

The 23-year-old has made 74 appearances for the Red Devils and has scored seven goals and one assist. Having only recently returned from an injury layoff, he scored a stunning long-range goal against derby rivals Manchester City.

The Scotsman went on to reveal that making it at United has always been his first choice. Any decision to move elsewhere would have only been considered had he failed to make his mark at Old Trafford.

He has also gone on to add that players don’t realize how lucky they are at United in comparison to other clubs.
