Fred thanks Michael Carrick for helping him find his feet at Old Trafford

According to the Brazilian outlet Trivela (h/t Mirror), Manchester United star Fred has credited Michael Carrick for helping him turn his career around at Old Trafford.

The Brazilian initially failed to live up to the hype following his £52m move from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2018. A thoroughly underwhelming debut season saw him make just 25 appearances for the Red Devils.

Now in his second season, he has established himself as a regular under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. He has so far made 39 appearances and scored two goals and four assists this season.

All of his goal contributions this season have come in the UEFA Europa League. United were on the verge of making it to the quarterfinals prior to the season being suspended.

Having experienced such a drastic turnaround in just over a year, Fred has been generous in his praise of Michael Carrick’s coaching (h/t Mirror).

“He has helped me a lot in this process of adaptation and transition.”

Having played in a similar position during his playing days, Carrick’s understanding of the game has benefitted the Brazilian to no end.

He revealed that the Englishman helps him out on a daily basis including helping out on an after-training session (h/t Mirror).

“It’s impossible for there to be anyone better than him to help me.”
