Ed Woodward makes key decision regarding Man United superstar

Ed Woodward decides to sell Paul Pogba in the summer

According to Tuttosport (h/t Express), Ed Woodward has decided that it is time to cash in on Manchester United star Paul Pogba.

The French World Cup winner has failed to live up to his potential at United and is a far cry from the dominant force he was at Juventus.

Injuries have not made it easier for him, with his last appearance for the club coming all the way back in December. To compound his problems, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was also involved in an argument with the player’s agent Mino Raiola.

With just a year left on his contract, United are keen to cash in rather than risk losing him on a free.

His former club Juventus are believed to be heading the queue of suitors. European powerhouses Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid also in tow.

Although it will in all likelihood be a cash-only deal, United are willing to sanction a player swap if Alex Sandro or Douglas Costa are offered.

Not to be left behind, Real and PSG are also keen to offer players in exchange for the French superstar. United are keen on the likes of Lucas Vazquez, Alvaro Odriozola, and James Rodriguez from the former and Angel Di Maria and Julian Draxler from the latter. (h/t Express)

The report adds that the Red Devils are keen on bringing back Di Maria comes as a surprise given the player’s candid comments on his life at United.

The way forward?

Woodward had recently commented that the current financial situation could make big money deals unfeasible. If that does happen to be the case, then player swaps could be the way forward.

United will do well to ensure they know who to get if it comes to that.

United do, however, have the option of extending the player’s contract by a further year. It does offer us some insurance in case we are unable to work out a deal in our favour.
