New Manager van Gaal Rates Only FOUR United Players: Should There Be More?

The new Manchester United manager has sent out a warning, saying that of the current squad there are only four who are guaranteed to be part of his plans.

There are expected to be big changes at Old Trafford this summer, with a complete overhaul of the current playing squad and £150 million to be spent on new arrivals.

The Daily Star reports that there could be a lot more exits than first thought, as the Netherlands coach says only rates four players, De Gea, Juan Mata, Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie.

Players like Michael Carrick, Antonia Valencia, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones, who were considered first team players are going to have to impress the Dutchman once he takes charge after the World Cup.

In all honesty, you can’t really blame van Gaal for his lack of faith in this current squad, after they finished seventh and dropped out of all European competiton for next season.

It has been said for the last few seasons that this is one of the weakest United teams in recent memory. Sooner or later someone was going to have to swing the axe.

However, that number of players he rates may increase during pre-season when he sees the tenacity of Jones, the speed of Valencia and the passing ability of Carrick.

Although, a real worry for United fans will be the inconsistency in the player’s form. This season has been a real eye opener for how bad things can get.
