Manchester United should keep an eye on these three stars in the Asian Cup

Manchester United will be tuning in to watch a lot of games during the Asia Cup this season. The team is standing on the brink of collapse and are desperate to find some new talent as they try and salvage their situation.

The Asia Cup presents an opportunity for young stars to show out on one of the biggest stages in the world. Everyone will be watching as these young men put their bodies on the line for international glory.

But like always there are going to be some who shine brighter than all the others and we have our picks.

Here are three Asia Cup players that Manchester United should keep an eye on

Kaoru Mitoma

Kaoru Mitoma is the player to watch in the Asia Cup. His tremendous control over the ball and intelligent approach to the game are admirable qualities. Moreover, the 22-year-old plays various positions in the midfield and mainly plays as a winger.

Over 24 appearances for Premier League side Brighton, Mitoma has recorded three goals and six assists for the team. His creative touch is a quality that many clubs would be lucky to have, including Manchester United.

The Red Devils can utilise him in their middle line which has been unable to produce anything as of late. Plugging Mitoma into the squad will make it drastically easier for the Old Trafford squad to break through defences.

Kang-in Lee is just as important for South Korea as their superstar Son Heung-min, he even scored two goals in the team’s opener. The 22-year-old has quickly become a fan favourite thanks to his excellent technical abilities and eye for the right pass. He may not always connect but he can spot a run quicker than most.

Over 16 appearances for Paris Saint-Germain, the South Korean star has racked up three goals and two assists. What the stats don’t show about this excellent player is his potential. Apart from his physicality nothing is holding Lee back from becoming a world-class talent.

Manchester United would thrive with a player of his quality on the team. He can cut in from the left and can open up defences with his excellent passing, utilising him as a playmaker will make a world of difference on Erik ten Hag’s squad who currently don’t have a creative bone in their system.

22-year-old Takefusa Kubo is well-loved over in La Liga. He has quickly solidified himself as one of the best wingers in the league thanks to his excellent creativity when cutting in from the right.

He has recorded six goals and four assists for the Real Sociedad outfit in just 25 appearances. Interestingly enough he was also signed by Barcelona at the tender age of 10 but eventually went back to play in Japan before returning to Europe to sign for Real Madrid. Already on United’s radar, it remains to be seen if he will be given added attention this month.

A player of his quality will be an excellent support or even replacement for Marcus Rashford. He is not selfish when cutting in, and his dribbling can carve an entire defence open with ease. Moreover, he will provide a much-needed scoring touch on Erik ten Hag’s squad.
