Manchester United have ‘sent scouts’ to watch Brighton & Hove Albion forward Kaoru Mitoma
Manchester United have ‘sent scouts’ to watch Brighton & Hove Albion forward Kaoru Mitoma in the current campaign, according to The Sun.
While it is not surprising for the big six to send people to other Premier League games, the Red Devils have focused on the Japan international in particular.
In the upcoming transfer window, the Old Trafford side are planning a clearout. Up front, Anthony Martial and Anthony Elanga could part ways with the Manchester-based club next summer.
Therefore, United will evidently need to invest in the attacking areas. To that end, the Red Devils have an eye on the Seagulls to strengthen their squad.
Mitoma made his way to the East Sussex club in the summer of 2021 from Japanese side Kawasaki Frontale. After spending a season out on loan, the 25-year-old has broken into the Amex Stadium side’s starting lineup in the current campaign.
Roberto De Zerbi’s team are flying high at the moment. They have made it to the semi-finals of the FA Cup and will face the Old Trafford side.
Brighton are also fighting for a European spot in the English top flight. Mitoma has made 27 appearances in all competitions this season for the Seagulls in all competitions, scoring nine goals and providing six assists.
Currently, on the left wing, Marcus Rashford has been electric for United in the current campaign. The 25-year-old has been the leading goalscorer at the club since the arrival of the former Ajax head coach. Alejandro Garnachoo has also established himself in the senior squad this term.

Mitoma has caught a lot of people’s attention with his abilities on the ball and the nous of taking on defenders. However, considering that the Japanese mostly plays on the left-hand side of the attack, it would be wise of us to focus on other players to bolster our attack.
