Roy Keane sheds some light on his relationship with Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney

Roy Keane says that he wasn’t close to Manchester United’s all-time leading goalscorer Wayne Rooney. Apart from not being close, Keane also went on to say that the striker annoyed him.

He explained that the tension between the two of them began when Rooney used to hide the controls of the TV. The English forward would at times not let Keane watch his rugby league games because he wanted to watch X Factor.

Keane went on to explain that there were never any arguments between the two of them. But, this was the cause of some tension between the two. He to this day believes that hiding the control was Rooney’s form of banter.

Let’s take a look at what the former Manchester United midfielder had to say. (h/t Mirror)

“I wouldn’t say I warmed to the guy, I certainly didn’t dislike him. But the lad’s on a different wavelength, different banter and if hiding the control was his type of banter then… not for me.”

While Keane says that Rooney was just on a ‘different wavelength, different banter’ there are those who believe he just didn’t like the English forward’s confidence.

The former Manchester United midfielder then went on to explain that his last few days at the club were the most difficult. He believes he could never really get close to his teammates because he was a bit grumpy and old school.

While Keane agrees that his teammates at the time were brilliant players, he also sats that they just weren’t the kind of lads that he would grab a cup of coffee with.
