Erik ten Hag will not be in the top four this season claims Manchester United legend.

Erik ten Hag has finally put a win on the board for Manchester United. Moreover, Aston Villa lost their game against Tottenham today and dropped three points. So, the Red Devils now only need eight points to catch up with the top-four spot.

The team is also about to have a few of their star players return from injuries. So, the mood around Old Trafford indicates that everyone is determined to make it to UCL. The fans are also hoping that United can pull it off.

However, Manchester United legend, Wayne Rooney does not think that Ten Hag can get it done. A lot is lacking for them to pull it off indicates Rooney. Let’s have a look at what else he had to say. (h/t Euro Sport)

“I don’t think Manchester United will make the top four, because they almost have to win every game and they’re very inconsistent so I can’t see them doing that,”

Rooney is correct to call the team inconsistent. The team wins a few games and starts to give hope to the fans. However, they are quick to fall apart thanks to their poor defence. Ten Hag’s set-up has a lot of gaps in it claimed Rooney.

The former striker is correct. Almost every game that United lost has been because of their poor defence. Every team they play against can find gaps in their defence and penetrate.

The Dutchman needs to fix the Red Devils’ defensive line if he hopes to play in the UCL.

However, even that won’t do much since Erik ten Hag’s attacking line at Manchester United also leaves a lot to be desired. The Dutchman surely has a long road ahead of him.
