Gary Neville was left speechless by what Manchester United achieved against Liverpool

Manchester United overcame a true test when they went up against arch-rivals Liverpool on Sunday. The Red Devils managed to surprise former Old Trafford defender Gary Neville with their achievements.

Neville was dumbfounded by the fact that Manchester United managed to keep a clean sheet. Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool looked very strong and provided Andre Onana with a world of trouble.

But, the Cameroon international along with Ten Hag’s defensive line held their ground. They also managed to break Liverpool’s 21-game goal-scoring streak at Anfield.

Gary Nevile was right to be ‘surprised’ by what Manchester United did against the highly motivated Reds.

Onana also took a dig at the Liverpool fans and told them that the Anfield atmosphere was ‘nothing’. Something that pundit Gary Neville seemed to agree with.

Let’s look at what the former Manchester United star had to say about Anfield’s atmosphere. (h/t Sky Sports)

“The atmosphere was the worst I’ve seen at Anfield ever for a Liverpool-Manchester United game. I’ve always been complimentary of Liverpool fans but it’s the quietest crowd I’ve seen in this game.”

“I think there was maybe a little bit of overconfidence before the game, with people wearing Christmas jumpers with 7-0 on them and stuff like that!”

Fans who wore those jumpers must have felt devastated after seeing their team fail to score. But, Manchester United and especially their defence deserve some props for their performance.

Say what people may everything comes down to the result. In the end, The Red Devils were happy to come away with one point. Meanwhile, the Reds expressed disappointment as they could only secure one point.

Now, it is of the utmost importance that Manchester United do not let go of their newfound momentum.

They must learn from their performance at Anfield and put it on display when they take on West Ham United on Saturday.
