Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek featured in a behind-closed-doors friendly game against Hull City on Tuesday
Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek got a much-needed game-time in the secret friendly game against Hull City. The 26-year-old has regressed drastically since signing for the Red Devils, failing to fulfil the potential he showed at Ajax.
The versatile midfielder showed immense talent at the Dutch club and established himself as the first-team player. Van De Beek is a hard-working midfielder, capable of contributing to both the defensive and offensive aspects of the game.
The 26-year-old is a technical midfielder with close control and impeccable passing abilities. The Dutchman acted as a link between the midfield and the attack during his time at Ajax.
Mirror reported that Van de Beek played the friendly alongside Antony and Hannibal Mejbri as United drew 1-1. He has only featured for two minutes in the Premier League and for 19 minutes in the Carabao Cup
United signed the 26-year-old from Ajax for £39mil. in the summer of 2020 under the former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. However, Van de Beek struggled to impress Solskjaer to justify a first-team place under the Norwegian.
The Dutch international signed for Everton in January of 2022 for a six-month loan deal. Van De Beek started five out of the first six matches but persistent thing injuries ruined his loan spell.
The Dutchman returned to the Red Devils for the next season when current manager Erik ten Hag took over.
Many experts believed that a reunion with his former Ajax manager would change Van de Beek’s fortune at United. However, the 26-year-old failed to impress Ten Hag despite their former allegiance and regressed further in limbo.
