Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag addresses Marcus Rashford concerns
Speaking in the pre-match presser as quoted by Manchester Evening News, Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has addressed the concerns surrounding struggling Englishman Marcus Rashford.
Manchester United will try to get back to winning ways on Saturday when they host Brentford at home. United’s form has taken a nosedive after the Brighton game when our unbeaten home record was broken.
Scoring goals has been a problem this season. It’s our new-signing Rasmus Hojlund who has been doing something in attack but he has had no support. On the other hand, Marcus Rashford who was in red-hot form last season, scoring 30 goals and providing 11 assists in 56 appearances looks like a pale shadow of his former self.
Meanwhile, he has only been able to score one goal this season. In fact, it’s worrying because United are last in their Champions League group and now find themselves in the 10th place.
Erik ten Hag said when asked about Rashford (Manchester Evening News):
“It’s normal not to be always at the same levels. Everyone knows the quality of him, also the opposition knows, but if Rashy is doing things right and the team is doing things right, putting him in the right places, then it’s up to him. We have seen in the last weeks, he’s getting into good positions, now he’s a little bit struggling but this will pass because everyone knows his qualities. Everyone at Manchester United backs him, the whole team is supportive of him and believes in him, so I’m sure with that confidence, with that belief, this will change and pass.”
Since their victory at Wembley, the Red Devils’ win percentage under Ten Hag has dropped from 69% to 50%, which is cause for concern.
Rashford needs to help Hojlund in the attacking third. Scoring goals is important but even if he is not, he should help his teammates play better. We have seen over the years how Rashford slowly picks up momentum and becomes ruthless.
It’s true that this is becoming frustrating for many fans and the team but we shall give time to him. He has always been a crucial part of the team.
