Kenneth Perez suggests Erik ten Hag could return to Ajax Amsterdam amid Manchester United struggles.
Former footballer Kenneth Perez told ESPN’s Voetbalpraat (h/t Metro) that Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag can return to Ajax. The former Ajax forward shared his idea in case things don’t take a positive turn for Ten Hag at United.
United have suffered a nightmare start to the season as they currently are in 10th position in the Premier League. The Red Devils have also suffered two defeats in their opening two Champions League Group A fixtures.
Ten Hag may find it hard to rectify the course of United’s season with an injury crisis and off-field problems creating chaos.
Perez talked about the problems Ten Hag is facing and the potential of making an emphatic return to Ajax. He said:
“Imagine if Erik ten Hag were fired, would it be very crazy for Ajax to ask him back? Manchester United is known for the fact that things can get difficult if things don’t go well,”
The Dutch giant are struggling in Eredivisie as they find themselves in 15th position right now. The Dutch giant might see a change in their managerial post if things don’t change quickly.
The Guardian reported that the Red Devils hierarchy is still completely behind Ten Hag after the recent loss against Galatasaray. The Dutchman has faced criticism for his role in current United’s predicament.
The 53-year-old made some controversial decisions during the last Premier League game against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford. The Red Devils were a goal down when the Dutchman chose to bring in Harry Maguire and Donny van de Beek.
Fans and pundits believed Maguire would play as an emergency forward due to his aerial abilities but the defender took his natural place at the backline. United have barely used Van de Beek before, and they did not use the in-form Hannibal Mejbri at all. The Red Devils registered only four shots on target throughout the game.

We think that Ten Hag needs to find a suitable balance and get positive results soon. While the Dutchman’s job might be secure for now, it’s important to remember that things change very quickly at top clubs like United. Ten Hag had a positive first season with the Red Devils as he brought the club back to the Champions League. The achievement has rightfully earned him more faith among fans and United hierarchy but that faith has its limits.
