Manchester United are interested in signing Jarrad Branthwaite of Everton
According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United are keeping tabs on Jarrad Branthwaite of Everton to bolster the team’s defence.
Branthwaite began his professional career at Carlisle United, where he made 14 appearances before joining Everton in January 2020. The 21-year-old defender has seen his profile rise dramatically over the past several months following a successful loan with PSV Eindhoven.
He made 36 appearances for them while playing under former PSV manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, and his outstanding play helped them win the KNVB Cup. After being handed a chance by Sean Dyche’s Everton team, the youthful player has since succeeded, playing 19 times for the Merseysiders.

With the exception of signing Jonny Evans as a free agent, the Red Devils were unable to improve their central defence this summer. We have seen how the injuries to first-choice defenders Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane have hampered the results lately.
Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw are now out for the long term. In fact, we have three left-back options at our club and all three are injured currently.
Despite the fact that Branthwaite is still a young talent, he has so far made an impression. There is every reason to think he can improve his game under a proper manager. A place like United might just be what he needs to flourish.

The closer he gets to running down his contract, it seems that Everton will have less leverage in the discussions for Branthwaite. Hopefully, United will make an offer that might flip the youngster’s head and make him want to come here.
United are in severe need of a backup defender because Tyrell Malacia, Sergio Reguilon, and Lisandro Martinez are all out with long-term injuries. Raphael Varane has also struggled with fitness, leaving Ten Hag with few options.
