Manchester United star Donny van de Beek has a chance to secure a move to Turkey before the transfer window closes

According to journalist Nicolo Schira (h/t the Sun), Manchester United star Donny van de Beek could leave Old Trafford ‘this week’ amid rising interest from Turkish clubs.

The Red Devils’s recent transfer window had its ups and downs, with some good signings, but there’s a lingering issue of having too many underperforming players on the roster.

This has led to an over-expenditure on player wages, which is becoming problematic for the club. Among those players is Van de Beek (26), who has been continuously linked with a move away from United throughout the summer, although no deal has materialised so far.

Fenerbahce and Galatasaray are said to be in a battle to secure the services of the Dutch midfielder, and the player could seal a move before the Turkish transfer window shuts down on September 15.

The former Ajax star’s future at Old Trafford appears bleak, as manager Erik ten Hag has left him out of the Champions League squad, indicating his limited chances in the first team.

Van de Beek, who rose to prominence at Ajax under Ten Hag, made a high-profile move to the Premier League in 2020, being widely regarded as one of Europe’s most promising talents at the time.

However, the No. 34’s time in England has not flourished, despite several efforts by the club. This included a six-month loan spell at Everton during the latter half of the 2021-22 season.

The fans hoped that Ten Hag’s appointment as manager last summer would provide a fresh start for Van de Beek, but unfortunately, the Dutchman couldn’t spark a revival.

While the Premier League transfer window closed almost a week ago, there is still a chance for the Red Devils to offload their midfielder as the transfer window in Turkey remains open until September 15.

Fenerbahce are familiar with dealing with United, having recently signed Fred on a four-year contract.

Now, they aim to bring together former United teammates by expressing interest in Van de Beek, potentially interrupting Galatasaray’s pursuit of the Dutch midfielder.

Negotiations between Galatasaray and the player for a possible loan move are in progress, but Fenerbahce might complicate their rivals’ plans in the closing stages of the transfer window.

The United star had European options for a possible transfer. However, a move to Lorient didn’t materialise, and there was also interest from Real Sociedad that didn’t come to fruition.

With Mason Mount and Christian Eriksen available to Ten Hag for the number eight role, it’s unlikely that the former Eredivisie player will see much playing time ahead of these two.

Van de Beek‘s career has experienced a significant decline in the last three years, and he desperately needs a transfer to reignite it.

The player’s possible options have been narrowed down, but in our opinion, a move away from his current situation is the best course of action for all parties involved.

The midfield maestro is undoubtedly a talented player who needs consistent playing time to rediscover his best form. Confidence plays a crucial role at the highest level of the game, and at the moment, he is lacking it.

A transfer to a prominent Turkish team could help him regain his confidence, potentially winning trophies, before considering a return to a top European club in the future.
