Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay shares mindset as he continues to score for Scotland
Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay is in a rich vein of form for his international side, Scotland. The 26-year-old midfielder scored 6 goals in the last 5 games for his country with 1 assist to his name.
Scotland’s national team won all 5 games in their EURO 2024 qualification group and they are positioned at the top. The group includes Spain, Norway, Georgia, and Cyprus.
McTominay insists that both he and his Scottish team-mates are staying grounded despite the remarkable performances from the side.

Speaking to Viaplay Sports (h/t Manchester United Website), McTominay said:
“The manager gives me a lot of freedom to get into the box and potentially make things happen. Obviously, he has shown a lot of faith in me and I just want to make things happen. We have to keep a lid on it. We all know we are really good players and in the dressing room, there is a really good squad, full of characters. I feel like for us it is relatively simple, we have to just keep our feet on the ground and keep [scoring] goals without conceding goals”
United were ready to sell McTominay during the summer transfer window according to the reports. West Ham were interested in the service of the midfielder after selling Declan Rice to Arsenal.
United manager Erik ten Hag values McTominay but the club was reportedly open to hearing an offer if they matched the valuation of £40m put on the player.

The Red Devils seek to raise money through the sale of players that were not important to Ten Hag’s plan. McTominay’s performance at the international level might make the Dutch boss reevaluate any decision with respect to the Scottish midfielder.
United have plenty of games to play as the season is just beginning and with Champions League football returning this season, McTominay may get the opportunity to bring his international form to Old Trafford.
