West Ham United discouraged by Manchester United valuation of Scott McTominay
Premier League rivals West Ham United have been discouraged by the price tag set on Scott McTominay by Manchester United, according to the Mirror.
The Red Devils are looking to get more than £40 million to part ways with the Scotland international in the ongoing transfer window. However, while the Hammers are interested in the midfielder, they are not keen on the Old Trafford side’s valuation.
As a result, any potential deal between Man United and the London Stadium for the 26-year-old side has been ‘complicated’ by the Red Devils’ demands.
Therefore, as things stand, it is unlikely that the Irons will get a hold of McTominay’s signature anytime soon. Although, the midfielder is willing to leave the Old Trafford side and Erik ten Hag is open to that idea.
Having made his way through the youth ranks at Man United, the Scottish national has become an influential member of the first team in recent years.
However, with the arrival of the Dutch manager last summer, the 26-year-old has not been handed a lot of opportunities in the starting lineup. Last season, he made 39 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils but started in just 10 Premier League matches.
At West Ham, with the departure of Declan Rice, David Moyes evidently needs to reinforce the engine room. However, the Hammers have a lot of funds at their disposal after selling the England international to Arsenal and other teams are aware of it.
Thus, it will be understandable if the Old Trafford side remain adamant on their valuation for McTominay. But will the London Stadium side end up meeting the Manchester-based club’s demands? Only time will tell.

We have Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Mason Mount in our ranks for now. But if the Scottish national ends up leaving, Man United will evidently need to reinvest the funds and add depth in the middle of the park.
