Nottingham Forest hopeful of signing Manchester United keeper Dean Henderson on loan
As per Sky Sports transfer update, ‘positive talks’ between Manchester United and Nottingham Forest are ongoing over the signing of Dean Henderson.
It is revealed that Forest are confident of signing the England international initially on loan with an option to buy. Personal terms are not an issue as the player is ready for the move.
Henderson will be allowed to leave United’s pre-season camp in the USA and fly back to the UK once the deal is struck among the interested parties. The confidence is there that it gets done soon.
The 26-year-old spent the last season on loan at Forest. However, his season was cut short by a thigh injury in January. He is back fit now.
Following his departure from United last summer, Henderson did an interview with Talksport detailing his frustration at the lack of opportunities at Old Trafford. Although it was refreshing to hear a player speaking his heart out, it was a bit too much than required.
Even when he got the chance to play instead of David de Gea in the 2020/21 season, the performance was not up to the mark.
So, it is only right that the Englishman is let go of this summer. The hope is that the deal gets done soon and all parties move on with their lives.
United have covered the goalkeeping position with the signing of the impressive Andre Onana. The Cameroon international is expected to be the first-choice keeper after the departure of de Gea this summer.
Tom Heaton would be an able deputy to Onana. The former Burnley stopper would offer experience and knowledge about the Premier League to the former Ajax number one.
