Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund offering encouragement to Manchester United in transfer pursuit
Manchester United are ‘getting encouragement’ from Rasmus Hojlund regarding a move from Atalanta this summer, according to GiveMeSport (h/t Express).
The Red Devils have already signed Mason Mount from Chelsea in the ongoing transfer window and are on the verge of acquiring the services of Andre Onana. Now, the Demark international is also looking to join the Old Trafford side.
Previously, the 20-year-old, who has been compared to Manchester City’s Erling Halland, has expressed his admiration for United. However, the Bergamo-based club are adamant about the striker’s £85 million valuation.
Atalanta signed Hojlund in the summer of 2022 from Sturm Graz. Subsequently, in the previous campaign, the youngster caught a lot of people’s attention with his displays for both club and country.
La Dea counted on the Danish national to lead the line last season. In 34 appearances in all competitions for Gia Piero Gasperini’s team, he found the back of the net 10 times and provided four assists.
While the 20-year-old’s numbers are not encouraging, he is still an exciting prospect. However, the price tag the Bergamo-based club have placed on the striker’s head seems excessive.
Although, it is understandable that Atalanta are asking for a premium, considering United’s evident need to bolster the number nine position. Anthony Martial is the only natural striker at Erik ten Hag’s disposal at the moment.
Unfortunately, the French national was unreliable in the 2022/23 term. The 27-year-old wan on the sidelines for most of the season and the gaffer had to count on the likes of Wout Weghorst, who joined us on loan from Burnley in January.

It is an encouraging sign that Hojlund wants to make his way to Manchester. However, will Atalanta budge on the fee they are demanding for the Danish national? Only time will tell.
