Dwight Yorke believes Manchester United should do everything to get Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur

Manchester United legend Dwight Yorke while speaking on Boyle Sports (h/t Manchester Evening News) believes that Manchester United should do everything to sign Harry Kane.

Kane is entering his last year of contract at Tottenham Hotspur and has shown no inclination of signing an extension with the North London club.

It effectively means that if not sold this summer window, one of the deadliest strikers the league has ever seen could leave his boyhood club on a free transfer next summer.

FC Bayern Munich is showing great interest in the England captain while it is believed that Kane is also keen to move to Germany with the hope of winning the much-deserved trophies in his career.

Yorke, who knows a thing or two about strikers, believes United should take full advantage of the opportunity at hand and do everything to sign Kane from Spurs.

“If Harry Kane goes to Bayern Munich, it does concern me with the striker situation at Man United. The striker position is probably the main reason that stopped us from getting close to Man City in the end.

You can’t play the game without a real number nine, even with Pep Guardiola’s false nine before, the striker position is very traditional in the Premier League. I’m not saying to go and spend £150m on Kane but Man United should act like the big club they are and go make the deal happen. Bayern Munich is a huge club, so Man United will have to do what’s necessary to bring Kane in, we know what he brings to the table, it’s priceless.”

It is true that signing Kane would instantly level our squad up and could potentially see us as title contenders for the upcoming season.

Erik Ten Hag has done well to assemble a squad full of high-quality technicians with a top-level winning mindset and the addition of Mason Mount only signifies that.

The addition of Kane to this side is the missing piece that could potentially take us right to the top but it is important to understand the club’s angle as well.

They do not want a repeat of the Frenkie de Jong saga like last summer where the entire window was spent on getting one target which could not even turn to fruition towards the end.

Daniel Levy is a shrewd operator and in no way would allow Kane to go to a direct rival unless exorbitant money is given from United to Spurs.

The chances of Kane moving to United are highly unlikely considering they are direct rivals but football never fails to amaze and if United smell an opportunity, they might make a move for Kane before the transfer window closes.
