Feyenoord goalkeeper Justin Bijlow attracting interest from Manchester United

According to Dutch outlet 1908.nl (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United are strongly interested in signing Feyenoord goalkeeper Justin Bijlow this summer.

Bijlow’s contract with the Dutch champions lasts until the summer of 2025 (Transfermarkt). But they are working on extending his stay there.

The 25-year-old played 25 league games for Feyenoord during their triumphant campaign, keeping 12 clean sheets (Transfermarkt). He has been at that club since his childhood days, making his senior debut seven years ago.

With the future of David de Gea still unresolved, United are in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer. The Spaniard will anyway become a free agent on July 1.

The Red Devils are interested in Inter Milan’s Andre Onana, a player who worked under Erik ten Hag before when both of them were at Ajax.

It would be interesting to see the direction United take in the coming days of this transfer window. Whether they will keep de Gea, sign Onana or get Bijlow.

The latter is an exceptional shot-stopper from shots of all angles and distances. His passing out from the back is good, with or without pressure.

Hence, we can understand ten Hag and United are interested in the 25-year-old. The boss wants a keeper who can play football as well, something de Gea failed dramatically in last season.

For a team to succeed, it needs to have a goalkeeper who can do the things the manager wants him to do. Once the confidence is relayed, the defenders will start to play better and things start to look better from there.

As good as United were in most areas last season, they had an under-confident keeper with regards to how he has been asked to play. The hope would be that it is resolved this summer.
