Manchester United have set a £20 million price tag on Fred amidst interest from Fulham in the ongoing transfer window, according to The Telegraph.

The Craven Cottage side are looking to acquire the Brazil international’s services this summer. As things stand, the midfielder’s current contract with the Old Trafford side is set to expire in the summer of 2024.

As a result, the Cottagers are reluctant to pay a relatively high fee for the 30-year-old. However, the West London-based club hope they can negotiate with the Red Devils and come to an agreement.

Fulham are yet to take concrete steps regarding a move for Fred. However, the Brazilian is open to making the switch to the Craven Cottage side. His existing deal with United will not be extended.

In the summer of 2018, the Red Devils signed the midfielder from Shakhtar Donetsk. Over the last few years, the 30-year-old has been a key player for the Old Trafford side.

However, in the 2022/23 campaign, while Erik ten Hag did call upon him a lot, Fred lost his place in the starting lineup. The Brazilian started in just 12 Premier League matches for the Manchester-based club.

In the middle of the park, Casemiro and Christian Eriksen were trusted by the gaffer last season. The former Real Madrid star and the Denmark international formed an impressive pairing in the double pivot.

Fred was called upon a lot when the former Brentford midfielder was on the sidelines. However, the Brazilian was inconsistent with his displays, as has been the case for some time now.

Therefore, we could do with some fresh blood in the engine room this summer. Fulham have done well under Marco Silva for now. Thus, it looks like the right time for the 30-year-old to move on from United.
