Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund keen to relocate to Old Trafford amid Manchester United links

Manchester United are known to attract some top talents from all around the world, and it would be a dream for any young player to secure a move to the Theatre of Dreams. Such is the case for Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund, who is rated at a massive £86million by his team.

According to Fabrizio Romano (h/t the Daily Express), the Atalanta sensation is keen to move to Man United this summer. It’s no secret that the club is actively searching for a new striker, with the 20-year-old being one of the players they are considering.

The club has been engaged in negotiations for the Danish player for several weeks. According to the Manchester Evening News, manager Erik ten Hag video-called the Danish star and shows special consideration for the player.

Although the Red Devils are planning to sign a new striker to share goal-scoring responsibilities with Marcus Rashford, it is highly unlikely that they will agree to splash out such a massive fee for the Danish striker.

It would still be easier for United to convince Atalanta to meet on common ground. The Serie A club is facing significant challenges in retaining the 20-year-old rising star after failing to qualify for the Champions League next season.

The Danish player joined Atalanta from Sturm Graz last summer and has made a notable impact with 15 goals in his 41 appearances. He has also scored six goals in three appearances for his country.

Hojlund’s physical strength, speed on the counter-attack, and finishing abilities have garnered praise. He has the potential to develop into a prolific goalscorer in the near future.

Man United has shown a keen interest in acquiring the striker this summer, although it won’t come without a significant cost. While the price tag may seem high for a young striker still honing his skills, United could reap long-term benefits by securing a promising centre-forward in Hojlund.

Ten Hag’s side will be on their toes this summer as Bayern Munich threaten to snatch their targets away. After agreeing on personal terms with long-term target Kim Min-jae, they have now entered the race to sign Hojlund, as stated by the German publication BILD.

United also needs to bring in quality additions in defence. Considering the team’s requirements, it would be wise for United to keep an eye on other strikers as well.

Hojlund is a young player who can, in all honesty, be a hit or a miss. Fans would want an experienced goal-getter but the fact is, such commodities are rare and if they are available, then they aren’t cheap at all.

Going for the Atalanta forward could be a smart option because if he succeeds and becomes a really world-class striker, then his valuation can skyrocket. And then, we would regret not moving quickly enough to sign him when he was within our grasp.
