Brighton & Hove Albion ‘preparing’ bid for Manchester United forward Jadon Sancho
Premier League rivals Brighton & Hove Albion are ‘preparing’ a bid to sign Manchester United star Jadon Sancho, according to reports via Sussex World (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Seagulls are willing to pay a club-record £45 million fee to acquire the services of the England international. As things stand, Joao Pedro is the Amex Stadium side’s most expensive incoming. The Brazilian was signed recently from Watford.
However, it looks like the East Sussex-based club are wasting no time in bolstering their squad ahead of next season. Roberto De Zerbi’s team will be playing in the Europa League.
To that end, Brighton have already ‘made enquiries‘ regarding Sancho’s availability ahead of the upcoming transfer window. Supporters’ frustrations with the 23-year-old have grown over the last two seasons.
United signed the English national from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2021. In Germany, the forward shone and made a reputation for himself. Unfortunately, the winger has been unable to replicate that form in Manchester.
Sancho’s debut campaign at the Old Trafford side was underwhelming. However, it looked like Erik ten Hag’s arrival would change the English national’s fortunes and it did seem to help him initially.
Unfortunately, after a decent start to the 2022/23 season, the 23-year-old went back to being inconsistent. He also missed a huge chunk of the campaign after being sidelined.
Brighton have built a pedigree over the last few years by signing relatively unknown talents and developing them into major stars. An approach for Sancho is evidently the opposite of that.

Also, it remains to be seen what position United will hold regarding the English national. The 23-year-old possesses immense talent, and considering our investment in him, it would be wise to keep a hold of the winger for a bit longer.
