Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka being monitored by Manchester United
Manchester United are keeping tabs on Bayern Munich star Leon Goretzka ahead of the upcoming transfer window, according to Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg on Twitter.
At the moment, the Red Devils are ‘monitoring’ the Germany international situation at the Allianz Arena side. However, the Old Trafford side are yet to make a concrete approach for the 28-year-old.
The Bundesliga giants are interested in acquiring the services of West Ham United captain Declan Rice. As a result, there is uncertainty around the future of Goretzka, which the Manchester-based club are aware of.
However, the midfielder has no intention of parting ways with Bayern in the coming months. He wants to stay with the Bavarians and has the backing of Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, who is part of the Bundesliga giants’ board.
The German national signed for the Allianz Arena side in the summer of 2018 from Schalke 04. Since then, the 28-year-old has been an ever-present member of their starting lineup.
In the current campaign, Goretzka has once again been a key player for Bayern. He made 40 appearances in all competitions for the Bavarians, scoring six goals and providing six assists.

United’s engine room was bolstered with the addition of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen last summer. However, without the Brazilian and the Denmark international, we have not looked our best.
The Red Devils seemingly lack depth in the middle of the park. Fred, Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek have left a lot to be desired over the years. Marcel Sabitzer was decent, having signed on loan in January from Bayern. But he is set to return to the Bundesliga giants.
