Juventus join Manchester United in the race for Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka
Manchester United have been joined by Juventus in the race for Bayern Munich star Leon Goretzka this summer, according to Sky Sport Germany via Italian outlet ilBiancoNero.
The Old Lady have had the midfielder on their radar in the past and are once again interested in him. Having failed to sign Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Franck Kessie, the Serie A giants are still monitoring the market to bolster their engine room.
To that end, the Germany international is being eyed by Juventus. However, apart from the Bianconeri, the Red Devils are also in the running to get a hold of the 28-year-old’s signature.
As things stand, Goretzka’s future at Bayern is uncertain. He is tied down to the Bavarians until June 2026. However, the Allianz Arena side have not ruled out the midfielder’s departure in the ongoing transfer window.
During pre-season, Thomas Tuchel, who replaced Julian Nagelsmann as the Bundesliga giants’ head coach in 2023, has preferred new arrival Konrad Laimer in the middle of the park alongside Joshua Kimmich.
At Juventus, Massimiliano Allegri has lost Arthur and Leandro Paredes from his engine room. They have the likes of Adrien Rabiot and Paul Pogba in their ranks. However, it remains to be seen how the former United midfielder will perform after his lengthy layoff.
At United, we have already signed Mason Mount from Chelsea this summer. Erik ten Hag also have Casemiro and Christen Eriksen at his disposal. The Dutch manager can also call upon Scott McTominay for now.

Therefore, it will be interesting to see whether the Red Devils will pursue more addition in the midfield in the coming weeks. Goretzka is a world-class talent. However, the midfielder was underwhelming in the 2022/23 campaign. What does the future hold for the German? Only time will tell.
