Manchester United are stepping up their pursuit to sign £40m-rated Rasmus Hojlund
As per John Cross in the Mirror, Manchester United have stepped up their pursuit to sign Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund in the summer transfer window.
The report reveals that the striker is available at around £40m, with his current contract at Atalanta running until the summer of 2027 (Transfermarkt).
United boss Erik ten Hag earmarked Tottenham Hotspur talisman Harry Kane as his primary centre-forward target for the summer window, but Real Madrid have joined the race to sign the England international after Karim Benzema’s departure.

Coming back to Hojlund, the Danish international had an exceptional first season with Atalanta following his arrival at the Italian club from Austrian side Sturm Graz last summer.
The 20-year-old scored 10 goals and assisted four in 34 appearances in all competitions with a playing time of 1897 minutes (Transfermarkt).
Hojlund possesses electric pace to trouble any defender with runs in behind. He has an excellent shot, is physically strong and can dribble past opponents in tight areas as well.

After seeing what Anthony Martial has served up following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo in November, United cannot go to next season without signing a number nine.
Although Kane’s experience of the league and the sheer amount of goals he can score is great, it might be difficult to sign him as long as Madrid is hovering around.
Hojlund, although young, has the talent to take over the striker role under ten Hag and do well for Manchester United.

At the price tag mentioned, the Danish international would be a bargain considering that he does the hardest job in football – which is scoring goals. The hope is that the United board are backing their manager every step of the way during the upcoming transfer window.
