A £55m bid will be launched by Manchester United sign Chelsea star Mason Mount

As per Daily Mail, Manchester United will launch a £55m bid in an attempt to sign Chelsea star Mason Mount in the summer transfer window.

Mount, whose contract at Stamford Bridge expires next summer and it is unlikely that he signs an extension, has been linked with a move to Liverpool and Arsenal in the recent past.

Although United are looking to strike a deal to sign the 24-year-old at £55m, Chelsea value him around £85m, which is frankly a lot given the player’s contract duration remaining in West London.

But, the latest from David Ornstein from the Athletic is that Mount is inclined towards playing for United if Chelsea decide to sell him. How much can be of that report, we do not know.

This seems like a transfer race that may go deep in the summer window. The fact that it is still not clear whether Mount is 100% set to leave Chelsea may further complicate matters.

With regard to his attributes, the England international is a versatile player who can play as an attacking midfielder or in wide areas. He can add goals from midfield, works hard off the ball, create chances and pick clever spots in between the lines to hurt the opposition.

If United are successful in signing him, Erik ten Hag would get a gem of a player. Mount can link up well with the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Christian Eriksen while connecting with defensive midfielder Casemiro.

His versatility could be put to great use as the Red Devils are set to play Champions League football next season along with the weekly tough assignments in the Premier League. It would be stupid to bow down to Chelsea’s price valuation though. If the club can pull off the deal on their terms, it is alright.
