As per Football Insider (h/t Manchester Evening News), Everton will demand something around £50m for the potential sale of Amadou Onana, who has been linked with Manchester United.

The report says that the Toffees are willing to accept an offer around that transfer fee if they are relegated from the Premier League. The chances of that happening are still a strong one despite being Brighton and Hove Albion 5-1 last Monday.

United boss Erik ten Hag will look to bolster the midfield department in the summer. The Dutchman would hope to get the necessary financial backing from the board after having done an exceptional job in his first season at Old Trafford.

Onana, 21, arrived at Everton last summer from French side Lille and has been one of their better players despite the team’s rotten form throughout.

He is tall, physically strong, and a bustle runner from midfield. He can win aerial duels, does not shirk away from physical duels, can progress with the ball, and reads the game very well.

At a young age, Onana is exhibiting the qualities of a midfielder who is destined to become a very good player in years to come.

For the quality and the potential longevity he can offer, £50m is not a bad fee for the Belgian international. If United and ten Hag are seriously interested in him, they should place a bid for him, irrespective of Everton’s survival in the Premier League.

More Manchester United News:

The Red Devils require more height and physical strength in the midfield to cope with the demands of potentially playing in the Premier League and the Champions League next season. Onana can provide those attributes in abundance.
