Manchester United will have to pay OGC Nice €30 million in order to acquire the services of Jean-Clair Todibo, according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo.

At the moment, the centre-back is tied down to the French side until June 2027. The Ligue 1 outfit are resigned to the fact that they will part ways with the French national in the upcoming transfer window.

But the Red Devils will have to compete with a few Premier League rivals to secure the defender’s signature. Apart from the Old Trafford side, Newcastle United and Liverpool also have the 23-year-old on their radar.

Todibo signed for Nice in the summer of 2021 after initially joining them on loan from Barcelona. The centre-back has thrived in at the Ligue 1 outfit and has grown from strength to strength.

The French national has been a key player for Les Aiglons this season as well. But as things stand, the Allianz Riviera side are mid-table in the league table and getting into a European competition looks difficult for them.

Regardless, Todibo has shone in Nice’s backline. The 23-year-old has made 42 appearances in all competitions for the Ligue 1 outfit in the current campaign.

Man United’s backline is stacked for now. Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane have been Erik ten Hag’s first-choice centre-backs this season.

But we also have Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof at our disposal. However, our skipper and the Sweden international have found game time hard to come since the Dutch manager’s arrival. Although, the Red Devils have realised the importance of quality in depth with the injury crisis in the defence.

It would not come as a surprise if Maguire or Lindelof decided to leave the club next summer. In that case, reinforcements will be required. To that end, Todibo seems like a decent option to have on our radar.
