Victor Osimhen, who plays for Napoli, would ‘prefer’ a transfer to the Premier League amidst interest from Manchester United, according to Foot Mercato (h/t Manchester Evening News).

Ahead of next summer, the Nigeria international is one of the names on the Red Devils’ list to bolster the forward line. However, the likes of Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are also eyeing the striker’s signature.

But the 24-year-old would rather move to England from Italy in the upcoming transfer window. Therefore, the Old Trafford side seemingly have an advantage in their pursuit.

Osimhen has been in fine form this season for the Naples-based club. He has found the back of the net 26 times and has provided five assists in 32 appearances in all competitions for the Partenopei.

Luciano Spalletti’s team are flying high in Serie A. They are at the top of the table with a considerable margin and are on course to win the Scudetto for the first time in 33 years.

However, the English top flight has been one of the most competitive leagues for some time now. The allure of the PL seems to be enticing for many foreign superstars.

United have not had a consistent number nine in the current campaign. Anthony Martial has been out injured for most of the season. Burnley loanee Wout Weghorst has left a lot to be desired up front.

Marcus Rashford has played as the striker on several occasions Under Erik ten Hag. The 25-year-old has shouldered most of the burden of our attack.

Thus, a prolific goalscorer is evidently the need of the hour for us. Osimhen has proven his talent and ability in Italy. But will the Nigerian want to conquer the PL next? Only time will tell.
