Manchester United monitoring Arsenal target and Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch
Manchester United are ‘keeping tabs’ on Bayern Munich star Ryan Gravenberch, who Premier League rivals Arsenal are also interested in, according to 90min (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Holland international has not been handed a lot of opportunities in Germany since his move from Ajax in the summer of 2022. Now, the midfielder is eyeing a path to first-team football and regular opportunities.
As a result, the 20-year-old is set to evaluate his future in the upcoming transfer window. Apart from the Red Devils and the Gunners, Liverpool have also asked to be kept informed of the youngster’s decision ahead of the summer.
Arsenal are flying high in the English top flight at the moment. Mikel Arteta’s team are at the top of the league table. In the middle of the park, Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka have been solid for the Gunners. They also signed Jorginho from Chelsea in January.
As for United, Erik ten Hag is keen to bolster the engine room in the coming months. The Dutch manager wants a ball-playing number eight in the team. To that end, Gravenberch is a player the gaffer admires.
Ten Hag was the one who developed and gave the Holland international his break at Ajax. The Red Devils have been in contact with Bayern over the last few months regarding the midfielder.
The 20-year-old has started in just one Bundesliga match so far this season. Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka have been ever-present in the middle of the park for the Bavarians.
United signed Casemiro and Christian Eriksen in the summer of 2022. The two have been inspiring additions to the Red Devils’ midfield. However, in their absence, the Old Trafford side seem to miss their creativity in the middle of the park.
