According to the Athletic, Liverpool have initiated talks with Bayern Munich to sign their talented midfielder Ryan Gravenberch amid interest from Manchester United. The Reds are currently negotiating a transfer fee for the Dutch midfielder.

Jurgen Klopp’s side is aiming to secure a permanent deal, and the player’s parent club is willing to listen to offers for the 21-year-old. However, there is no finalised agreement between the two clubs at this stage.

Liverpool have already made three midfield signings in this transfer window, bringing in Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Wataru Endo.

Nevertheless, they have seen the departure of six other midfielders since the end of the previous season and are now seeking to add one more midfielder to their squad.

The youngster’s future has been a topic of significant discussion, and he hasn’t dismissed the possibility of leaving Allianz Arena before Friday’s deadline.

Man United are also strongly linked with the Dutch international, who has seen just nine minutes of competitive action for Bayern this season.

Gravenberch initially kick-started his professional career at Ajax, where his impressive performances attracted interest from some of Europe’s top clubs.

Bayern secured the Dutchman’s signature in 2022, and he made 33 appearances in the 2022-23 season, contributing one goal and one assist.

However, the versatile midfielder struggled to secure a regular starting spot, and it’s expected that he will be on the move before the upcoming Friday’s transfer deadline.

The Bavarian giants hold a strong position regarding Gravenberch’s future, as he is under contract in Munich until June 2027.

The Red Devils have also emerged as a potential suitor to sign the midfielder if they can’t secure Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat.

Man United made a loan offer for Amrabat, but Fiorentina seems inclined towards a permanent transfer for the Moroccan player.

As a result, Erik ten Hag’s team could potentially shift their focus to Gravenberch in the later stages of the transfer window.

However, the club would not have an upper hand at this moment, as Liverpool have already started talks. The Dutch star is also said to be favouring a move to Anfield.

The Reds have funds at their disposal, which was clearly evident when they made a huge bid for Moises Caicdeo.

This means that an offer could arrive from Klopp’s side if they are able to meet on common ground with Bayern. United needs to make sure they secure a deal for Amrabat or else risk playing against time to sign any other midfielder on the deadline day.

In our opinion, it is still an open race, and anything can happen in the next 24 hours. After all, this summer we have already witnessed some crazy midfield battles between clubs, and we can’t rule out yet another final drama.
